Oh hello, afternoon pick-me-up.
Raise your hand if you’re adding collagen peptides in your coffee on occasion (me!).
I’m into it. Especially as an afternoon treat that packs a healthy-protein punch, which I’ve now had time to make and perfect while at home in quarantine (#smallwins). It’s flavorless and great for skin, hair, nails and also claims to help relieve joint pain, prevent bone loss and boost muscle mass. More research is needed to confirm collagens full potential but so far there seems to be some strong claims and I for one think it’s added to the increased health of my hair, skin and nails, and in the least it’s been an easy and healthy protein adder to my beverages — both coffee and matcha.
Here’s the recipe for my #HighMaintenanceLatte:
One shot Nespresso (I like it lungo style, and I’m currently partial to the for-milk style barista blends like Chiara and Scuro)
1 scoop VitalProteins collagen peptides
6-8 oz Macademia Milk, steamed/microwaved (or oat milk, or coconut-almond milk blend are my go-tos)
1/4 tsp Ashwaganda
1/2 tsp TOCOS
1/2 tsp honey (or less to taste)
Dash cinnamon
Heat milk, then froth up all non-espresso ingredients in mug/Yeti (I usually use a hand frother), pull shot of espresso on top and enjoy!
xx, Danielle
